    Cargo Denim

These are cargo jeans for men built on a stacked leg. The pairs here take the long, tapered cut of our stacked jeans and add pockets down the thigh, so you get the utility of a cargo with the folds gathering at the ankle. Everything on this page is denim, cut for men, and in stock in at least one size.

Cargo jeans for men, on a stacked leg

Most cargo jeans for men are cut loose and straight, with the pockets doing all the work. Ours start from the opposite end. The leg is slim through the knee and runs longer than a standard inseam, so the extra fabric settles on top of your shoe in a stack of folds. The cargo pockets sit above that, on the outer thigh, where they add weight to the leg without breaking up the stack.

The result looks like a cargo from the hip to the knee and a stacked jean from the knee down. That is why they wear well with a chunky sneaker or a boot, and why they look sharper than a baggy cargo pant with the same pockets.

    What the cargo pockets change

On a plain stacked jean the eye goes straight to the ankle. Add a pocket on each thigh and the leg gets a second point of interest higher up, which makes the whole silhouette read wider and the stack look deeper than it measures.

Front and back pockets are where you expect them, and the cargo pockets take the lighter things, a card holder, keys, earbuds, without pulling the leg out of shape.

If plain stacks feel too quiet for you, a cargo stacked jean is the easiest step up. If you want the stack without the extra detail, start with the plain mens stacked jeans instead.

    The Vortex cargo cut

Vortex is the core cargo cut in this collection. It is made from our ZCL cargo denim with reinforced seams, the stacked leg described above, cargo pockets on both thighs, and front and back pockets. The camo pairs list 75% cotton, 23% polyester and 2% elastic, which gives the leg enough stretch to taper without the fabric fighting you when you sit down.

The camo pairs add a light whiskered finish on top of the print. Each product page lists exactly what that colourway has.

    Choosing a colour

Black cargo jeans are the safest first pair. Black hides the fold lines in the stack and keeps the pockets low key, so the jean goes with almost any sneaker. If you already own the black stacked jeans look in a plain cut, black cargo is the natural second pair.

Camo is where cargo denim makes the most sense. Woodland camo, green camo and black camo all lean into the utility side of the jean, and they are the colourways that sell the fastest here. Wear them with a plain tee and let the leg do the talking.

White and grey show every fold and every pocket line, which makes them the loudest option on the page. Navy, red and orange sit in between, more colour than black, less noise than camo.

Shades of grey and camo prints can vary slightly from batch to batch, which is normal for dyed and printed denim.

    Getting the size right

Cargo jeans here are sized on the waist, from 30 up to 44 in the Vortex cut. The length is part of the design, so you do not choose an inseam.

The Vortex cargo runs slim through the leg. For the tight, close stacked look, order your usual waist. For a more regular fit through the thigh, go one size up, which is what the product notes recommend. For reference, the model in the Vortex photos is 5 foot 10, 180 lbs and wears a 34.

Do not have them hemmed. The extra length is what creates the stack, and shortening it turns them into an ordinary cargo jean.

What to wear with cargo jeans

Shoes first. A cargo stacked jean needs a shoe with some volume, a high top, a chunky trainer or a boot, so the folds have something to rest on. A flat, slim shoe lets the denim slide down and the stack disappears.

On top, keep it simple. A fitted or slightly oversized tee, a hoodie or an overshirt all work. The jean already has pockets and folds, so a busy top pulls attention in two directions. Leave the top untucked but short enough that the waist and the start of the cargo pockets stay visible.

For colour, pair loud jeans with quiet tops and the other way round. Camo or red cargo with black or white on top, black cargo with almost anything.

Cargo jeans or plain stacked jeans

Both share the same long leg and the same stack at the ankle. The difference is everything above the knee. Cargo jeans for men carry more detail and read more streetwear. Plain stacked jeans are cleaner and dress up more easily.

If you are building a rotation, most people start with one plain black pair and one cargo pair. You can see every cut, wash and colour together on our stacked jeans for men page.

    Questions about cargo jeans

    Are cargo jeans in style?

Yes. Cargo denim has moved from workwear into streetwear, and the stacked version is the current shape. Slim through the knee with folds at the ankle reads more modern than a straight, baggy cargo.

Do cargo stacked jeans run small?

The Vortex cargo runs slim. Take your usual waist for a close fit, or one size up for a more regular fit through the thigh.

What shoes go with cargo jeans?

Shoes with some bulk. High tops, chunky trainers and boots hold the stack in place. Low, slim shoes let the fabric fall past them.

    Are these real denim?

Yes. Every pair on this page is denim. The pairs that list their fabric carry 2% elastic, so the tapered leg stays comfortable.

What is the difference between cargo jeans and cargo pants?

Cargo pants are usually cotton twill or nylon with a loose leg. Cargo jeans are denim, with the same thigh pockets on a jean cut. Ours add the stacked length on top.

What sizes do cargo jeans come in?

The Vortex cargo comes in waist 30 to 44. Available sizes are shown on each product page.
